If you live in a private house, then you probably have a garden. 🏡 Did you know that gardens can be fraught with potential hazards for your pet - some plants are toxic to dogs, but there are other hazards, from harmful chemicals to sharp objects. If you really care about your dog, read How to Make a Dog Friendly Garden. 🌿
✔️ Plant strong plants
Restless dogs can damage young plants or plants with tender stems, either by digging them up or running over them. Plant large, established perennials and choose robust plants such as nepeta, astilba, and hardy geraniums (avoid pelargonium species, which can be toxic to dogs and, confusingly, go by the common name geranium). Or you can use the backbone of strong shrubs.
✔️ Avoid poisonous plants 🪴
Many garden plants are toxic to dogs (if they feed on them). These include chrysanthemum, aconite, ranunculus, daffodil, daphne, delphinium, foxglove, hydrangea, oak, tomato, wisteria, and yew (Taxus baccata). If you notice that your dog has ingested part of the plant, take your pet to the veterinarian immediately.
Here are some beautiful plants suitable for dogs: snapdragons, asters, camellias, roses, sunflowers, eleagnus, centaurea (cornflower), impatient and calendula.
✔️ Take care of your plants and lawn 🌷
If your dog is restless and loves to dig, he can ruin lawns and borders, so create a designated play or digging area using sand or bark. To prevent the dog from running over your yards, you could run paths through them or create well-defined boundaries. And also raised beds are a great option.
✔️ Make sure your garden is securely fenced 🔨
Some dogs may dig under fences or escape through holes in fences, so make sure your borders are secure at the base. Dogs can jump surprisingly high, so make sure your fences are at least 6 feet high if you have a medium sized dog.
✔️ Avoid chemicals ☠️
The use of chemicals such as inorganic slug pellets can be harmful if your dog eats a slug or snail. We also do not recommend adding additives to water bodies or ponds, as dogs will often be tempted to drink from them.
✔️ Create a shadow 🌳
A shady place on a hot day for a dog will be a real salvation. To prevent dogs from overheating, they must have a place in the shade where they can rest, as well as a bowl of clean water so that there is less temptation to drink from puddles and reservoirs.
We hope you take our advice into account. Have a good rest and fun games with your friend! 🐶💞

Wait! If you are a caring person and want to help an animal shelter, this can be done even without adoption. Shelters and rescue services are always in need of dedicated volunteers and help. So how can you help them?
✔️ You can help shelters by transporting animals. Entering a dog with ready-made documents for the flight is not as difficult as it seems. Contact us if you are ready to help!
✔️ You can become a volunteer in our shelter.
✔️ Donate items to the shelter. Dogs always need essentials such as food, utensils, leashes, carriers.
✔️ Buy items from the shelter's wish list. Soon we will have this list where you can choose what to give to animals in need.
✔️ Click on the donate button at the top next to the profile header and donate as much as you see fit.
✔️ Help by taking photos of foster pets. If you have already adopted a pet from our shelter, help us share your happy story by taking photos.
Thanks to everyone who helps us and also shares this post with their friends. We appreciate the contribution of each of you, whether it's a like repost or a donation. Help make this world a better place by saving animals in need. 💞🌎🐶

Hello, dear animal lovers. 👋🏻 In one of the previous posts, we already talked about how to care for the coat of dogs, depending on their coat type. Good hygiene habits are essential for a healthy dog. But what about tips for grooming your pet at home? Here they are!)
✔️ Brush all the way down to the skin, letting the massaging action stimulate blood circulation and loosen and remove flakes of dandruff. (to find out which comb is right for your dog, find our previous post)
✔️ Bathe your dog, but not as often as you bathe yourself. Washing too often removes natural oils and leaves the coat dry and rough. 🛁🦮
✔️ Do you hear the clatter of claws on the floor? It's time for your dog's nails to be trimmed! Your nail tools won't fit a dog. Use a specially designed clipper. Most of them have safety guards to keep you from clipping your nails too short.
✔️ Do it gradually. Do not do all the procedures at once one after another. Let your dog rest and understand that you will not harm him. 🐶💤
✔️ Use positive reinforcement! Sweet treats have not left anyone indifferent. Try to appease the dog with them, then the procedures will be much easier.
✔️ Clean your ears once a month. Clean only the outer part of the ear, do not need anything to stick there. Some dogs need to be plucked directly inside the ear to keep air circulating. Ask your veterinarian if this is necessary for your dog.
✔️ Do not forget to clean the eyes with a damp cotton swab as needed.
✔️ Brush your dog's teeth and don't forget the chew toys to help clean your dog's teeth.
✔️ Check your dog's pads regularly. This is done not only for cleanliness, but also to ensure that the pads of their paws are not dry, cracked or injured in any way. 🐾
